The Double Sided Matt (made in November 2002)
Why aren't life decisions made by flipping coins?  If you're at 50/50 odds of chosing one of two futures, why not control your entire fate upon the flip of a nickel?  Well folks, I'm in a bind (and I may need some help.)  At the moment I don't have any coins, but perhaps with your help I won't need any.
Here's my dilemma: I have two futures ahead of me, each stemming from different sides of who I am right now.  On one side exists Scientific Matt, with his great knowlege and passion in science and a fairly clear and successfull future.  On the other side exists Filmmaker Matt, with his obvious infatuation with filmmaking and an untapped potentially ambiguous future.  Eventually I will need to decide between the two of these.
Below are descriptions of each "side" I possess.  If you have a coin, flip it and vote.  But if you just so happen to be absent of any such coin, just vote on which future you truly believe I should follow.  Maybe you can save me a trip to the local psychic.

and the outcome is...
Heads!
Scientific Matt
Tails!
Filmmaker Matt

HEADS or TAILS?
Scientific-Matt (heads)
Filmmaker-Matt (tails)

I've always been interested in Science ever since Kindergarden, when I first put baking soda and vinegar together in a baloon.  My interest in it developed especially in high school when I was introduced to biology.  Particularly interested in the molecular level of the subject, I decided to become a biochemistry major here at UCD.  My hopes in this field include going into research for cancer or AIDS and possibly developing my own research company for pharmaceuticals and medicine.
Is it not safe to base your whole life around an infatuation?  Maybe... but I am definately willing to make that gamble.  Ever since my high school music instructor asked me if I could make a few commercials to advertise to students his new project, I have wanted to start a career in the film business.  What started then as a "taste for film", has eventually worked its way in becoming a "craving for film!"  For a while, and up until recently, I tried to convince myself that it was a dream and not a reality.  But as some things gnaw at your brain until the day you die, film has compelled me to reconsider my life and ponder the direction its taking.  While forcing me to take a big step backward, hopefully film's daunting path will lead to the dream I've always strived for.
"Hello, I'm the Scientific side of Matt.  I have a passion for Biochemistry and love the interest.  If you vote me, I will make sure my future will be great!  (No Homelessness like my counterpart chances)  Besides, who can resist the power of the Double Helix!"
"Hi, I'm the Filmic side of Matt.  I like going to work for fun!  Vote me because my infatuation for filming is too great to ignore!  I will make sure Matt enjoys his profession.  Who needs a midlife crisis anyway?  (Oh, by the way, that hat is my emergency Krispy Kreme hat... if I can't become a director, I'll be making donuts for those who are)"
